Ask Burger King for a Vegan Whopper in India

Let's face it: sometimes you don't have time to cook or even sit down to eat, so you need something fast and inexpensive to grab during your lunch break. But one of the major fast-food franchises in the country, Burger King, doesn't have a single dish marked "vegan" on its menu. It's time for the chain to take a bite out of the massive demand for animal-free food in India by making a vegan version of its world-famous Whopper.

Scores of Indians are dropping meat, eggs, and dairy "products" in order to improve their health and safeguard animals and the environment.

About 75 per cent of the world's human population – including three out of four Indians – can't properly digest milk, as they lose their enzymes for doing so after infancy. Medically, these individuals are now considered "normal", while adults who can digest milk are recognised as being able to do so because of a genetic mutation. When those who can't digest milk consume it, they commonly experience symptoms such as bloating, pain, gas, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Consuming cows' milk or other dairy "products" is also thought to contribute to numerous illnesses, including cancer of the reproductive system, autoimmune diseases, and some childhood ailments.

Moreover, the dairy industry is the primary supplier of cattle to the beef industry in India, so buying or consuming dairy "products" directly supports violence against these animals.

Eggs aren't any better: they contain a massive amount of cholesterol, and more than 60 per cent of their calories are from fat, much of which is saturated fat. In fact, studies published in various reputable journals have found that eggs are so unhealthy that people who ate the most  eggs increased their risk for cardiovascular disease by 19 per cent and their risk of developing diabetes by 68 per cent. They also discovered that diabetics who ate the most eggs increased their risk of developing heart disease by a whopping 83 per cent.

Egg production also condemns hens to a life of rape by way of artificial insemination as well as abuse and severe confinement. Male chicks born on egg farms are considered worthless, so farmers kill them and other chicks unwanted by the meat industry by burning, drowning, crushing, or grinding them to death or feeding them alive to fish.
