Help Animals Suffering Because of Weak Cruelty Penalties

Rupees 50 is the maximum penalty under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,1960. This paltry fine fails to act as a deterrent to those who cause harm to animals.

Dogs are poisoned, cows have been burned with acid, and countless other animals across India are abused every day including subjected to sexual violence – and the current penalties are often not enough to prevent humans from mistreating animals.

The most vulnerable living, feeling beings in India are suffering because of weak penalties- and reduced legal protection. Please join us in calling for a comprehensive and stronger law involving harsher punishments for animal abusers.
