"Glass Walls" takes an unflinching look at the routine cruelty involved in raising, transporting and killing chickens, pigs, cows, sheep, fish and other animals who are used for food. It is the first-ever comprehensive video exposing the routine cruelty of the Indian meat, egg and dairy industries.
The video's title was inspired by longtime vegetarian Paul McCartney's famous remark: "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian". "Glass Walls" takes viewers behind the scenes to see what happens on factory farms and at slaughterhouses, where animals meet a frightening, bloody end.
R Madhavan's narration was shot by cinematographer Parashar Baruah, and the undercover video footage was captured by various investigators.
At slaughterhouses, chickens are often scalded to death, and pigs are repeatedly stabbed in the heart as they scream out in pain. Cows, goats and sheep have their throats cut – often with dirty, blunt knives – in front of their terrified companions. Many are skinned and dismembered while they're still conscious. Fish are often mutilated or crushed as they suffocate to death.
R Madhavan also explains the massive environmental damage caused by intensive animal farming – from polluting water sources to causing climate change.
Now that you've seen through the walls of slaughterhouses, please forward "Glass Walls" to all your family and friends. Please also post the video on your Facebook page and tweet about it.
